
Tiger-Vac, as the manufacturer, GUARANTEES, that these units can be used to safely recover combustible /conductive dusts and/or flammable liquids.
The ATEX marking certifies only, by it's Ingress of Protection (IP), the capacity of the vacuum cleaner to be in the presence of combustible /conductive dusts and/or flammable liquids but does not certify the capacity of the vacuum cleaner to recover them.

Different applications
Flour is a product known to be explosive. TYPE 22 VACUUM CLEANERS
ATTENTION:
Vacuum cleaners advertised as « Type 22 » are commercial vacuum cleaners which do not hold any official certification for use in hazardous areas.
« Type 22 » vacuum cleaners are not recognized by ATEX Directives applicable in Europe, nor by the certification group IECex which is applicable Internationally, nor by NFPA regulations applicable in North America.
The « Type 22 » vacuum cleaner was designed purely for commercial reasons in order to confuse and mislead the public regarding equipment designed specifically for use in an ATEX Zone 22 hazardous location and equipment designed for use in commercial establishments such as hotels and restaurants.
Vacuum cleaners advertised as « Type 22 » are dangerous when used in hazardous areas as they have been designed to be used in hotels and restaurants to clean out grease traps and washrooms.
DEFINITION OF A ZONE 22 ACCORDING TO ANNEX I OF ATEX DIRECTIVE 1999/92/CE
A: Zone 22
A place in which an explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust in air is not likely to occur in normal operation but, if it does occur, will persist for a short period only.
Self-certified ATEX Category 3 vacuum cleaners for use in ATEX Zone 22 hazardous areas have been designed to be used in the presence of combustible dusts but not to recover combustible dusts.
B: Category 3 as defined in the Directive 94/9/EC
Comprises equipment designed to be capable of functioning in conformity with the operating parameters established by the manufacturer and ensuring a normal level of protection.
Equipment in this category is intended for use in areas in which explosive atmospheres caused by gases, vapors, mists, or air/dust mixtures are unlikely to occur or, if they do occur, are likely to do so only infrequently and for a short period only.
Equipment in this category ensures the requisite level of protection during normal operation.
C: Requirements concerning Ingress Protection Rating (IP) as per ATEX harmonized standard IEC 61241-1 Paragraph 6
Dust-tight enclosures IP6X shall be applied for use in:
– zone 20;
– zone 21;
– zone 22 with conductive dust.
Dust-protected enclosures IP5X shall be applied for use in:
– zone 22 with non-conductive dust.
