Firing Ranges Combustible dusts

user_elec_horiz_actionHow you clean the range area is very important.  Inadequate and/or inappropriate range cleaning procedures can actually create a greater risk of lead exposure.  Perhaps the worst thing you can do is clean the range by dry sweeping.  Similarly, compressed air can’t be used to clear floors or other surfaces of accumulated lead.  Both procedures will stir up lead dust and increase airborne lead levels and exposures.

As you may know, there are two methods that should be considered for the routine cleaning of your range.  One is wet mopping and the other is using a HEPA vacuum system.  Both systems prevent settled lead from becoming stirred up and exposing employees to elevated airborne lead levels.  However, you should be aware that if you use a wet mop procedure for range cleaning, the water may need to be managed as a hazardous waste.  If you plan to use a HEPA vacuum system, make sure it is designed to be explosion proof so unburned or spilled gunpowder isn’t accidentally ignited. All Tiger-Vac vacuum cleaner systems designed for shooting range/shot house maintenance are legally certified explosion proof and dust ignition proof. The HEPA filter may also need to be managed as a hazardous waste.  When working on the range the ventilation should be turned on (unless performing work on the ventilation systems or performing other activities where running the ventilation system could create a hazard to the worker.).

SD* Static Dissipative

Details

All stainless steel SAE 304 construction (except cart).  Less than 10 Ohms of resistivity.  This unit is equipped with a true HEPA (H14) Filter located downstream of the motor.  This unit has been designed for the recovery of flammable and toxic powders such as unspent gunpowder and lead contaminants.  This unit is ideal for shooting ranges, army ammunition depots, manufacturers of fireams and pyrotechnic industries.  This unit includes poly liners for the safe and easy disposal of recovered materials.  This dry only unit contains a Manual Filter Shaker (MFS) system.  All of our HEPA vacuum cleaners are Aerosol Leak Tested before leaving our facility.

High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter

A HEPA filter is a type of air filter, which means it filters the air coming in or out of the vacuum cleaner system. It can remove at least 99.99% of dust, pollen, mould, bacteria and any other airborn particles with a size of 0.3 micron or larger.

North-America: Each HEPA Filter has a minimum filtration efficiency of 99.99% on 0.3 micron.  Tested as per IEST-RP-CC001.3 and OSHA compliant.

Europe: Each HEPA Filter has a minimum filtration efficiency of 99.995% on 0.3 micron, rated H14 as per EN 1822 by MPPS method.

Manual Filter Shaker System

The Manual Fitler Shaker system allows the operator to clean the main filter without having to open the vacuum cleaner.  This shaker System reduces maintenance down time.

The Manual Filter Shaker System consists of a spring action mechanism operating directly onto the filter cage located inside of the filter chamber. The system is operated by pressing on the ergonomic handle located on the side or top of the filter chamber.

The Manual Filter Shaker dislodges the accumulated caked-on dust from the filter thus improving the filter’s performance.

The filter, along with the filter cage, can be easily removed from the filter chamber and washed with lukewarm water and mild detergents.

Explosion Proof Requirement

In order for Tiger-Vac to legally certify an Explosion Proof/Dust Ignition Proof vacuum cleaner system the unit must be static dissipative (SD*) and conductive and have a resistivity measuring less than 10 Ohms to any point on the vacuum cleaner system. This makes the unit eligible to be Explosion Proof/Dust Ignition Proof and be part of Tiger-Vac's quality control management system ISO 9001:2008.
When using a pneumatic Explosion Proof Vacuum Cleaner System the customer must make sure that the source of air supply (compressor) is grounded.

Detachable Recovery Tank

Our detachable tanks range in size from 20 to 160 liters (5.28 gal to 42.25 gal) and are available in stainless steel or powder coated, with or without wheels for maneuverability.
